Mildred García was president of CSUDH from 2007 to 2012, then president of Cal State Fullerton for another six years before heading to Washington, D.C., to lead the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. But this fall, she came back to the California State University system as chancellor of the 23-campus system, the first Latina to hold that position.
