The 1984 Summer Olympics brought Southern California together in pride and celebration. 140 countries participated (despite a boycott by the Soviet Union and 13 other Eastern Bloc nations), and events were held at 31 different venues across the Southland. CSUDH hosted track cycling events at the velodrome, while locales from Malibu to Long Beach to Fullerton also staged competitions.
