Charging Up for the Future
It’s not “shocking” to learn that CSUDH now has the most EV charging ports in the CSU system — more than double any other campus — with the addition of 203 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Parking Lot 3. The infrastructure improvements were completed in September 2026.
“This level of infrastructure readies our campus to support both current usage and future growth in electric vehicle adoption,” said CSUDH Sustainability Manager Ellie Perry. “This aligns us with statewide policies supporting electric vehicle growth, and as an added bonus, enhances our ability to serve as an event venue for the 2028 Olympics and other mega-events.”
Funding for the stations was obtained through Southern California Edison’s Charge Ready program, which helps provide financial incentives, infrastructure, and technical support to facilitate the installation of EV stations in the region. No university funds were used to pay for the Level 2 charging stations.
“Supporting clean transportation options for our campus is a key step in achieving our carbon neutrality commitments. This project will hopefully serve as an encouragement for existing campus drivers who are considering an electric vehicle for their next replacement to take the leap,” said Perry.
